We love the graphic work on your web sites, is this something that can be included within our own site?

Yes of course. Standard graphics such as a header and rollover buttons will definitely be included, these are essential parts of any site. However, graphics can take a long time to create depending on what they are so if something specific is required like a logo or a character design then this will need to be discussed beforehand.

Why do we need a website?

The benefits of a web site speak for themselves. A web site is accessible 24 hours a day to a global market. It is very cheap advertising, hosting for your site costs about £40 a year. Compare this to print media such as brochures and flyers and you'll soon notice a big difference in costs. It is a great way to show off and when designed efficiently can be a real asset to your company or business.

We need a web site but don't have any idea of what we want?

Can we view the web site whilst it is still in progress?

Yes. There will be a sub domain created for your site which will be accessible to anyone online. Once the web site is complete it will be transferred to it's dedicated url address.

What content should we put on our website?

The content of your site is clearly very important. We normally work with our clients to gather content as you are more likely to know about your business/subject matter than we are. Every web site is different so it is difficult to gauge what is needed until we talk to you in person. We offer a photography service for any photos that may be required and will do our up most to help in the gathering of other content.

Can we update the site ourselves after it has been completed?

We understand the need for web site updates once your site is online. We can help with this in two ways. If you are confident enough to try it yourself we will train you to update your own site. If not, then we provide an ongoing content management service that can add updates as and when you require them.

Would it possible to have a Flash web site?

We incorporate Flash elements onto some of our web sites as and when necessary. It is worth considering that not everybody has Flash enabled on their computers which may impact the number of people that can actually view your site.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the text name corresponding to the numeric IP address of a computer on the Internet. A domain name must be unique. Internet users access your website using your domain name, so the domain name of this site would be http://www.retroedgewebdesign.com.

What is hosting and where should we get it from?

Your web site or web pages are hosted, or stored, on a computer (a http server) that is permanently connected to the Internet. We can help arrange a hosting package for you or alternatively you can arrange this yourself. We have some more information in our Domains & Hosting section on this site.

We need photographs for our web site, can you help?

Of course, we offer a digital photography service to compliment your web site. We can visit premises or completed work projects to acquire photos for use on the site. For more information please use our online form to contact us.

We would like our existing site to be changed/updated, can you help?

If you already have a web site but would like a new look or updated content we can help. If it's a whole new look you require contact us for more information and we will provide a quote. We also provide a content management service to update your site as and when you request it. Otherwise, we offer training so that you can update your own site.

Will the search engines find our site?

In order for a search engine to know your site is on the Internet (and for someone searching on that search engine to find you) your site details must be 'submitted' to that engine. Otherwise your site will effectively remain "Ex-directory"! The web pages also need to be optimized so that they are search engine friendly.
